The Congress of Deputies has begun the processing of a bill that modifies the current legislation so that animals are no longer classified as objects and are considered living beings endowed with sensitivity.

Animal abuse has a broader meaning than that referring to dogs and cats, the most common household pets. And, in many cases, it is a problem that affects the environment. “There has been a lot of progress in pets, but not so much in issues such as experimentation, hunting or intensive farming for human consumption; industrial exploitations are unsustainable for the natural environment”.

Vegetarians also don't eat products that contain gelatin or rennin (an enzyme found in the calf's stomach that is used to make many cheeses).
